Meanwhile, 19-year-old Spain winger Salma Paralluelo won the FIFA Best Young Player Award.

Paralluelo scored in 2-1 wins over the Netherlands and Sweden in the quarter-finals and semi-finals respectively.

The Golden Glove prize - given to the player voted as the tournament's best goalkeeper - was awarded to Mary Earps.

England stopper Earps, 30, kept three clean sheets in seven games for the Lionesses and saved a penalty kick in Sunday's final.

The Golden Boot was won by Japan's Hinata Miyazawa, who was the tournament's top scorer with five goals.

Midfielder Miyazawa, 23, is the second Japanese player to win the Golden Boot at a Women's World Cup, after Homare Sawa in 2011.
