Alexis Mac Allister completed his much-anticipated transfer from Brighton & Hove Albion to Liverpool on Thursday.

Liverpool will pay Brighton an initial transfer fee of £35 million but that could eventually rise to £55m with add-ons.

The 24-year-old Argentina international, who helped his country win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will wear the no.10 jersey at Anfield.

Liverpool's no.10 squad number had not been assigned to any player since Sadio Mane left the club to join Bayern Munich last summer.

Speaking in his first interview with LiverpoolFC.com, Mac Allister said: "It feels amazing. It's a dream come true, it's amazing to be here and I can't wait to get started.

"I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it's good that everything is done. I'm looking forward to meeting my teammates.

"It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it's time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day."

Mac Allister will be the seventh player from Argentina to represent Liverpool, after Mauricio Pellegrino, Gabriel Paletta, Emiliano Insua, Javier Mascherano, Sebastian Leto and Maxi Rodriguez.
