Liverpool could be without Andy Robertson for a significant period of time after the left-back suffered an injury to his right shoulder while on international duty.

Scotland captain Robertson was clattered into by Spain goalkeeper Unai Simon during Thursday's 2-0 defeat in Seville.

No foul was given against Simon as Robertson had been offside.

The 29-year-old appeared to be in some pain as he walked off the pitch with the help of a member of medical staff.

If Robertson has dislocated his shoulder then he could be out of action for around six to 12 weeks.

His injury will likely result in more game time for Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas, 27.

Robertson has started all eight of Liverpool's EPL matches so far this season, while Tsimikas has been predominantly used in the EFL Cup and Europa League.

Liverpool's next game is on October 21 against Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield.
