Daniel Levy Says New Manager Ange Postecoglou Will Bring "Fast, Attacking" Football Back To Tottenham
Tottenham confirmed the appointment ofĀ Ange Postecoglou as first-team manager on Tuesday.
The 57-year-old will join Spurs on a four-year contract after winning five trophies in two seasons with Scottish giants Celtic.
He will officially begin work at Spurs on July 1.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement: "Ange brings a positive mentality and a fast, attacking style of play.
"He has a strong track record of developing players and an understanding of the importance of the link from the academy - everything that is important to our Club. We are excited to have Ange join us as we prepare for the season ahead."
Many Tottenham fans will be encouraged to hear aboutĀ Postecoglou bringing attacking football back to the club.
Tottenham had been an attractive high-pressing team that played on the front foot under Mauricio Pochettino.
But sinceĀ Pochettino'sĀ departure in 2019, Spurs have become a defense-minded counter-attacking side under recent managers Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte.
Meanwhile, Levy's comment aboutĀ Postecoglou understanding "the importance of the link from the academy" is likely to divide supporters.
Fans generally love to see homegrown players come through the ranks at their club.
But Levy's words could be his subtle way of saying that Spurs are not going to invest heavily in new first-team players, but rather look to source them from within.
