Tottenham Hotspur returned to the top of the Premier League table on Monday night following a 2-0 home win over Fulham.

Richarlison assisted Son Heung-min for Tottenham's opening goal following a fine interception by Micky van de Ven in the 36th minute.

Son then set up James Maddison nine minutes into the second half for his first home goal since joining Spurs from Leicester City.

Both Son and Maddison were substituted off ahead of the final quarter of an hour, with Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou seemingly keen to keep his star men fresh ahead of Friday's trip to Crystal Palace.

A victory at Selhurst Park would see Postecoglou's side go five points clear at the top - albeit likely for less than 24 hours - and there is growing belief that Tottenham could be involved in this season's title race.

Tottenham's unbeaten start (seven wins, two draws) to the season has seen Postecoglou set a new Premier League record.

No other manager has ever started their EPL career by taking as many as 23 points from their first nine matches.
