Arsenal officially secured UEFA Champions League qualification on Wednesday evening despite losing 4-1 at Manchester City.

That is because Brighton & Hove Albion's 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest elsewhere on Wednesday made it mathematically impossible for the Gunners to finish below fourth place in the Premier League this season.

Therefore, Mikel Arteta's team are guaranteed a spot in next season's Champions League group stage.

Arsenal have not played in the Champions League since the 2016/17 campaign when they finished top of Group A, ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, but lost 10-2 on aggregate to Bayern Munich in the round of 16.

Man City are also now sure of a place in next season's UCL.

Newcastle and Manchester United are strong favorites to take the other two spots but Liverpool, Tottenham, Brighton and even Aston Villa still have an outside chance of qualifying.
