Aston Villa Qualify For European Football As Tottenham Miss Out For First Time In 14 Seasons
Aston Villa will play European football next season for the first time since 2010 after qualifying for the third edition of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Villa beat Brighton 2-1 on the final day of the Premier League season to finish seventh in the table, one point above Tottenham.
Douglas Luiz and Ollie Watkins fired Villa 2-0 up inside the opening 20 minutes.
Deniz Undav pulled a goal back for Brighton before half-time but Villa held on for a precious victory.
Villa's last game in a European competition came back in 2010 when a side managed by Kevin MacDonald lost 3-2 at home to Rapid Vienna to exit the UEFA Cup in the play-off round.
Unai Emery's side will now enter next season's Europa Conference League in the play-off round, which will take place over two legs in August.
Tottenham won 4-1 at Leeds on Sunday but an eighth-place finish saw the London club miss out on European football for the first time in 14 seasons.
