Bernardo Silva Extends Manchester City Contract After Interest From PSG, Barcelona And Al-Hilal
Bernardo Silva has signed a contract extension at Manchester City.
The 29-year-old creative midfielder is now tied to City until June 2026, having previously only been contracted to the club until the end of the 2024/25 season.
Silva had been heavily linked with a possible move away from Manchester this summer.
Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal were all keen to sign Silva, who has scored 33 goals and provided 33 assists during his 201-game Premier League career.
But City were determined to keep their Portuguese playmaker, after losing Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez to Barca and Al-Ahli respectively since the end of last season.
City's director of football, Txiki Begiristain, said in a club statement on Wednesday: "Bernardo has been exceptional during his time at the Etihad, so we're delighted that he has signed a contract extension with the club.
"His quality and technical ability is fantastic - and alongside his hard work and professionalism, he has become one of the best players in the world.
"Bernardo was so important in our Treble-winning season and we are sure he can help deliver even more trophies in the next few years."
Silva said: "I've had six incredible years at Manchester City and I'm delighted to extend my time here.
"Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it's exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion.
"Success makes you want even more, and this club gives me that opportunity to keep on winning.
"I love the manager, my teammates and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years."
