Real Madrid ended the weekend nine points behind Barcelona in La Liga after drawing 0-0 at Betis on Sunday.

Barcelona had won 1-0 at home to Valencia earlier in the day.

Madrid had the ball in the net 12 minutes into their game in Seville when Karim Benzema found the top corner from a free-kick.

But the goal was disallowed following a VAR review that found that Benzema's shot had hit Antonio Rudiger's hand before beating the Betis keeper.

Madrid were calling for the VAR to get involved again in the second half when Benzema went down in the box under a clumsy-looking challenge from William Carvalho.

But no penalty was awarded and Real ended a game without scoring for the fourth time this season.
