Carlo Ancelotti will be in charge of the Brazil national team at next summer's Copa America tournament in the United States.

Brazil appointed Fernando Diniz as manager this week. Diniz now has two jobs as he is also head coach at club side Fluminense.

But the 49-year-old has been made aware that the Brazil job is only his for just under 12 months.

Ancelotti is currently under contract with Real Madrid until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Once that deal expires, the Italian will replace Diniz and start his career in international management.

Brazilian Football Confederation president Ednaldo Rodrigues broke the news at a press conference this week.

On Diniz's appointment, Rodrigues said: "His game plan is almost similar to that of the coach that will take over at Copa America, Ancelotti.

"We don't call him an interim coach of the national team. He will come and make the transition in Brazil for Ancelotti."

Ancelotti will be 65 next summer. The 2024 edition of the Copa America will start on June 20 and finish with the final on July 14.

Real Madrid have not yet commented regarding Brazil's announcement.
