Chelsea can no longer be relegated from the Premier League this season.

The five-time EPL champions had lost six games in a row in all competitions prior to Saturday's trip to Bournemouth.

Some fans were beginning to fear the worst as relegation was still a mathematical possibility at the start of the weekend.

But that is no longer the case after a 3-1 win at Bournemouth took Chelsea to 42 points.

Even if Chelsea now lose their remaining four fixtures of the season, they cannot be caught by Southampton, Everton or Leeds.

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard was pleased with Saturday's victory, which came courtesy of goals from Conor Gallagher, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix.

"I'm happy," Lampard told BBC Sport. "We came in off the back of a tough run, it's been a tough year and there is a lot of work to do.

"But the performance and the result in isolation are really good, we deserved to win the game. It's a nice step forward for the lads. To work hard and come to a place that has been very hard for a lot of teams this year... I'm very happy."
