Spain goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2030.

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea have paid Brighton a transfer fee of £25 million.

In his first interview for his new club's official website, Sanchez said: "Chelsea is the best choice I could have picked.

"The opportunity that they have presented in front of me is amazing - to develop more as a goalkeeper, to keep learning, to compete for the spot and show everybody how good I can be."

Sanchez - who has been capped twice by Spain at senior international level - had been a Brighton player since joining the club's youth ranks in 2013.

He made 87 Premier League appearances for the Seagulls after making his debut during the 2020/21 season.

Sanchez started 25 games in all competitions last season but ended the campaign as Brighton's second choice goalkeeper behind Jason Steele.

He is likely to start the 2023/24 campaign as Chelsea's back-up keeper, with fellow Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga currently in possession of the no.1 jersey at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea sold Senegal stopper Edouard Mendy to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli in June.
