Christopher Nkunku Shares Bundesliga Golden Boot Award With Niclas Fullkrug After RB Leipzig Striker Finishes Season With Dominant Display Against Schalke
Christopher Nkunku finished his league career with RB Leipzig on a high by scoring two goals and assisting another in a 4-2 win over Schalke on Saturday.
That result relegated Schalke from the Bundesliga, while Leipzig ended the season in third place.
Meanwhile, Nkunku's brace on Sunday took his tally of league goals for the season to 16.
That saw the 25-year-old, who is expected to leave Leipzig to join Chelsea this summer, share the Golden Boot with Werder Bremen's Niclas Fullkrug.
Nkunku's 16 goals came in 25 games, while Fullkrug scored 16 times in 28 appearances.
The Bundesliga's Golden Boot award had not been shared since the 2002/03 season when Thomas Christiansen and Giovane Elber each scored 21 goals.
Before this year, no player had ever won the award by scoring fewer than 17 goals.
