England Reach Euro U21 Final After Man City's Cole Palmer Scores One And Assists Two In Win Over Israel
England have reached the final of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship for the first time since 2009.
The Young Lions, who last won the biennial tournament in 1984, beat Israel 3-0 in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
Goals from Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White, Manchester City midfielder Cole Palmer and Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer gave England a deserved victory at the Adjarabet Arena in Batumi, Georgia.
Gibbs-White missed the target from a penalty kick in the 17th minute but he made amends just before half-time by heading England in front from a Palmer cross.
After assisting the first, Palmer scored the second himself.
Gibbs-White played a through ball into the path of Emile Smith Rowe, who fed Palmer for a sliding tap-in.
The goal was initially disallowed for offside but it was awarded following a long VAR review.
Palmer claimed another assist in the last minute when substitute Archer wrapped up an emphatic win.
England have reached the final without conceding a goal all tournament.
Lee Carsley's side recorded a hat-trick of 2-0 wins in the group stage, beating the Czech Republic, Israel and then Germany.
That was followed by a 1-0 victory over Portugal in the quarter-finals, before they beat Israel again.
England will face Spain in the final on Saturday.
