Kylian Mbappe will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season, it has been confirmed.

The 25-year-old officially informed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi of his decision this week.

Mbappe's current contract is due to expire on June 30.

PSG tried to sell Mbappe last summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer 12 months later.

The club exiled Mbappe from the first team in July when he was left out of a pre-season tour to Asia.

But after Mbappe rejected an offer from Al-Hilal, he was eventually allowed to return to the PSG squad following what the club said were "very constructive and positive" talks.

It is understood that those talks resulted in PSG and Mbappe reaching an agreement that will enable the club to receive some sort of financial compensation when the player eventually departs.

That could involve Mbappe sacrificing some of the salary and bonus payments he is due to be paid by PSG.

Mbappe could also opt to extend his contract by 12 months so that his next club would be required to pay PSG a transfer fee in the summer.

That next club is widely expected to be Real Madrid, who came close to signing Mbappe back in 2022.

Mbappe - who reportedly earns around €200 million per year in Paris - is PSG's all-time leading scorer with 243 goals in 290 games.
