Cristiano Ronaldo was in the crowd at Mrsool Park on Friday as Al Nassr beat Al-Ta'ee 2-0 to go four points clear at the top of the Saudi Pro League.

Thousands of fans had flocked to Mrsool Park hoping to see Ronaldo in action for the first time since he was officially unveiled as an Al Nassr player earlier this week.

But the 37-year-old was unavailable as he was serving the first part of a two-game suspension carried over from his time at former club Manchester United.

Ronaldo's debut is instead expected to come on January 22 against Ettifaq.

But Al Nassr did not need their new no.7 because Brazilian Talisca scored twice to extend his lead in the Saudi Pro League's Golden Boot race.

Talisca has now scored 11 goals in 10 games this season.

His first of the match arrived via a header on 42 minutes and he scored again early in the second half following an assist by goalkeeper David Ospina.

Friday's game had originally been scheduled for Thursday but an electrical fault at Mrsool Park, caused by heavy rain, forced a postponement.

The weather was not much better on Friday and kick-off was delayed by around 20 minutes as officials attempted to make the pitch playable.

They succeeded, just about, although the playing conditions were still pretty awful and hardly suitable for a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, as large puddles caused the ball to run unevenly.

Ronaldo may well have been glad that he was able to watch the game from the dry premium seats at Mrsool Park.
