Hungary midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in Germany.

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year deal at Anfield after the Reds triggered a buyout clause in his Leipzig contract.

According to BBC Sport, Liverpool have paid Leipzig £60 million for Szoboszlai.

That transfer fee makes Szoboszlai Liverpool's fourth most expensive signing of all time, behind Virgil van Dijk (£75m), Alisson Becker (£65m) and Darwin Nunez (£64m).

However, Nunez could yet replace Van Dijk as Liverpool's record signing because performance-related add-ons could eventually see his fee rise to £85m.

Szoboszlai will replace Naby Keita by taking the no.8 squad number at Anfield.

He is the second midfielder Liverpool have signed this summer, after Alexis Mac Allister, 24, arrived from Brighton & Hove Albion for £35m.

Liverpool's midfield is undergoing a significant rebuild, after Keita, 28, James Milner, 37, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, 29, all left Anfield following the expiration of their contracts.

Szoboszlai can play in central midfield, out wide, or as a no.10 just behind a striker.

He scored 12 goals and provided 16 assists in 62 Bundesliga games for Leipzig.

Szoboszlai has been capped 32 times at senior international level, scoring seven goals.
