More than 92,000 fans filled Barcelona's Camp Nou stadium on Sunday to watch the first ever Kings League 'Final Four' event.

The Kings League is a new seven-a-side soccer tournament set up by former Barca defender Gerard Pique.

But fans were screaming the name of another ex-Barca player on Sunday as "Messi, Messi" rang around the stadium.

Lionel Messi scored 672 goals for Barcelona between 2005 and 2021.

He left the Camp Nou because Barcelona's financial situation made it impossible for the club to offer a contract renewal that complied with La Liga rules.

Messi joined Paris Saint-Germain in August 2021 but his contract with the French champions is due to expire in June this year.

A return to Barcelona is said to be one of a number of options Messi is considering, as well as staying in Paris or moving to Saudi Arabia.

On the pitch, a different Argentine star lit up the Camp Nou on Sunday.

Martin Mantovani earned the Final Four MVP award by helping El Barrio become the first ever Kings League champions.

The next edition of the Kings League will start on May 7.
