Arsenal will be top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day.

The Gunners won their final game before the World Cup break by beating Wolves 2-0 at Molineux.

Wolves will spend at least the next seven weeks bottom of the EPL.

Leaders Arsenal sit five points ahead of title rivals Manchester City, after Pep Guardiola's side suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Brentford in their last EPL game until December 26.

The Gunners were seen as rank outsiders to win the EPL when the season started but the omens now look encouraging for Mikel Arteta's team.

Good Omens For Arsenal

In nine of the past 12 seasons, the team that have been top on Christmas Day have gone on to win the title.

Arsenal have won 12 of their first 14 EPL matches this season. The last seven teams to do that have all gone on to win the league.

On The Other Hand...

The team top at Christmas have only won the title in one of the last three seasons.

In two of those seasons, Man City stormed back in the second half of the campaign to knock Liverpool off top spot.

The bookmakers still make City favorites to win the title this season.
