Erling Haaland Breaks Mo Salah's Record For Most Goals In A 38-Game Premier League Season
Erling Haaland has broken the Premier League record for most goals scored in a 38-game season.
The 22-year-old Manchester City forward netted his 33rd goal of an incredible debut campaign in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Arsenal.
Haaland, who also registered two assists against the Gunners, has taken just 29 games to hit 33 EPL goals.
Prior to Haaland, Liverpool's Mo Salah had held the EPL record for the most prolific campaign since the competition downsized from 22 clubs to 20 in 1994.
Salah scored 32 goals in 36 appearances for Liverpool in the 2017/18 season.
Including Salah and Haaland, only eight players have reached the 30-goal mark in a 38-game EPL season.
Alan Shearer was the first in 1995/96, followed by Kevin Phillips, Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo, Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez.
Shearer and Andy Cole still share the overall EPL record for most goals scored in a single season, having each netted 34 times in a 42-match campaign during the early 1990s.
However, Haaland will almost certainly break that record too in the coming weeks.
