Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will not play for Norway against Scotland on Sunday due to an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old is also a doubt for City's next Premier League game, which is at home to Liverpool on November 25.

Haaland experienced ankle pain while playing in Norway's 2-0 win over the Faroe Islands on Thursday night.

That same ankle had been twisted earlier this month during City's 6-1 win over Bournemouth.

According to a statement made by the Norwegian Football Federation, Haaland's "injury is not serious".

However, national team doctor Ola Sand said: "He is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early."

Haaland missed just five games due to injury last season. He suffered a bruised foot in October 2022 and then experienced a groin issue in March 2023.

But muscular problems had seen him miss 20 matches for Norway and Borussia Dortmund in the 2021/22 campaign.
