Everton preserved their Premier League status by the narrowest of margins on Sunday.

The Toffees beat Bournemouth 1-0 at a rocking Goodison Park to seal 17th place and send both Leicester City and Leeds United down to the EFL Championship.

Abdoulaye Doucoure scored the only goal of the game in the 57th minute when he rocketed a shot past Bournemouth keeper Mark Travers from 20 yards.

Leicester and Leeds had both needed Everton to drop points to stand any chance of staying up.

Leeds never even flirted with a great escape as they fell behind inside two minutes against Tottenham and eventually lost 4-1 at home.

But Leicester beat West Ham 2-1 at the King Power Stadium thanks to goals from Harvey Barnes and Wout Faes.

Leicester's game finished approximately five minutes before Everton's, creating a nervous finale at Goodison Park.

But nervousness made way for relief and joy when Stuart Attwell blew the final whistle after 11 minutes of added time.

Thousands of Everton fans stormed the field at the end of the game to celebrate their team's dramatic survival.
