The quarter-final draw took place on Wednesday evening directly before United's trip to Nottingham Forest and Liverpool's home game against Southampton.
United then beat Forest 1-0 thanks to a late Casemiro winner, while Liverpool overcame the Saints 3-0 courtesy of a debut strike from Lewis Koumas and two goals from fellow teenager Jayden Danns.
Elsewhere in the quarter-finals, Newcastle will visit Manchester City, while Chelsea will welcome Leicester to Stamford Bridge.
The other game at the last-eight stage will see Coventry travel to Wolves.
The quarter-finals will take place across the weekend of March 16 and 17.
