Fulham beat Everton in a penalty shootout to win Tuesday's EFL Cup quarter-final at Goodison Park.

A Michael Keane own goal put Fulham in front against the run of play just before half-time.

Beto then equalized for the Toffees in the 82nd minute after coming on as a substitute.

With no extra time played before the semi-finals in the EFL Cup, the game went straight to penalties after ending in a 1-1 tie.

Amadou Onana had a chance to win the shootout for Everton after Bobby De Cordova-Reid had seen his spot-kick saved by Jordan Pickford.

But Onana was denied by Bernd Leno before Idrissa Gueye later hit the post for Everton.

Fulham prevailed 7-6 in the shootout to reach the semi-finals of a major competition for the first time since 2010.

Fulham went all the way to the final of the UEFA Europa League in the 2009/10 season before losing to Atletico Madrid at the last hurdle.

But the Cottagers had not made the last four of a major domestic tournament since 2002 when they lost 1-0 to local rivals Chelsea in an FA Cup semi-final at Villa Park.

Fulham won the EFL Championship in the 2021/22 season, having won the play-offs in that division in 2018 and 2020.

However, Fulham have not yet won a major title in the club's 144-year history.

Highlights: Everton 1-1 Fulham (6-7 On Penalties)
