Germany Manager Hansi Flick Fired After Fourth Loss In Five Games
Hansi Flick was fired as manager of the Germany men's national team on Sunday.
Flick's dismissal by the German Football Association (DFB) came less than 24 hours after his team had been thrashed 4-1 by Japan in a friendly in Wolfsburg.
That was Germany's fourth defeat in five games.
In total, Flick lost six of his 25 games in charge, drawing seven and winning 12.
He had overseen a disappointing World Cup campaign in Qatar last year when Germany failed to progress from a group that also included Japan, Spain and Costa Rica.
Flick, who had been in the job since the summer of 2021 when he replaced Joachim Low, is the first Germany manager ever to be fired by the DFB.
Rudi Voller will take charge of Germany in Tuesday's friendly against France at Dortmund's Signal Iduna Park.
Voller, who managed the team between 2000 and 2004, was appointed as interim manager on Sunday.
The DFB said that it hoped to announce Flick's full-time replacement "as soon as possible".
Germany qualified for Euro 2024 automatically as tournament hosts.
