Globe Soccer Awards 2023: Cristiano Ronaldo Expected To Win New Prize
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have both been named on a 30-man shortlist for the Best Men's Player prize at the 2023 Globe Soccer Awards.
Ronaldo, 38, is the oldest player nominated, while Messi, 36, is the third-oldest, behind Luka Modric, 38.
Messi won the award in 2005 but six-time winner Ronaldo is the only player ever to receive it more than once.
Since Ronaldo last won the prize in 2019, the three most recent winners have been Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema. They have all been nominated again this year.
Ronaldo is unlikely to win the Men's Player of the Year award for a seventh time.
However, the Al Nassr captain is the overwhelming favorite to win a new award.
Ronaldo is one of 12 nominees for the inaugural Best Middle East Player award. The other 11 players up for this gong are Benzema, Salem Al-Dawsari, Mourad Batna, Mohamed El Shenawy, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Odion Ighalo, Ali Mabkhout, Riyad Mahrez, Michael Olunga, Alejandro Romero and Talisca.

What Are The Globe Soccer Awards?
The Globe Soccer Awards, organized by the European Club Association (ECA) in conjunction with the European Association of Player's Agents (EFAA), were launched in 2010.
Every year since then, an awards ceremony has been held in Dubai in the UAE.
Awards are presented based on votes, with players judged on their performances during the calendar year.
Fans can take part in the first round of voting via vote.globesoccer.com until December 7.
The second round of votes will be cast by Globe Soccer's official jury, which is made up of more than 30 key football industry figures, including Francesco Totti, Iker Casillas, Luis Figo, and Marcello Lippi.
Awards will be presented early next year on January 19.
