Hakim Ziyech flew to France expecting to sign for Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day but his proposed loan move from Chelsea fell through.

Ziyech was seemingly all set to join PSG until the end of the season.

It was a deal that suited the player as well as both clubs.

But a problem with the submission of paperwork saw PSG unable to sign Ziyech before the deadline.

According to GOAL, the deal collapsed after Chelsea mistakenly sent PSG the wrong paperwork three times.

PSG appealed on Wednesday morning to a French soccer legal committee, asking for special dispensation to complete the deal for Ziyech after the deadline.

But the request was rejected.

Ziyech joined Chelsea for more than £30 million in July 2020 but he has started just four Premier League games this season.

The former Ajax forward has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge due to Chelsea's wealth of attacking options.

His place in the Chelsea pecking order fell even further in January after David Datro Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke joined the club.
