Harry Kane Delighted After Breaking Another England Scoring Record
Harry Kane was a happy man on Tuesday night after setting another scoring record for England.
Kane had already scored more goals for England than any other player, having broken Wayne Rooney's record back in March.
But until Tuesday, Bobby Charlton still held the record for scoring the most England goals at Wembley Stadium.
That changed after Kane bagged a brace in a 3-1 win over Italy.
Kane has now netted 24 times for his country at England's national stadium. Charlton scored 23 Wembley goals during his international career between 1958 and 1970.
Tuesday's victory over Italy secured England's place at Euro 2024 with two qualifying matches still to play.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Kane said: "I feel like sometimes we make qualifying look easy, so credit to the boys because it's not. We've had one of the toughest groups, you've seen over recent years some big nations not going to major tournaments, so to do it with two games to spare just shows the path we are on.
"We can enjoy it, it was a really good performance from everyone, even when we went 1-0 down there was no panic. We stayed calm and carried on doing what we have done the whole campaign and obviously got the rewards in the second half."
On surpassing Charlton's Wembley record, Kane added: "I love playing here at Wembley. I love playing for England full stop. To do it here at home is always special.
"To perform in front of our fans, to wear the badge, to lead the boys out, and of course to score as well is one of the best feelings ever.
"I enjoy the records but we go onto the next one and see how far we can go. This group wants to keep pushing standards. Now we will have to see how far we go next summer."
