Jadon Sancho Hits Back At Erik Ten Hag Over "Untrue" Criticism Of Poor Performance In Training
Jadon Sancho was not happy with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on Sunday.
Sancho had featured as a substitute in United's first three Premier League games of the season but he was dropped from the squad ahead of Sunday's 3-1 loss at Arsenal.
When asked after the match why the former Dortmund winger had not been selected, Ten Hag replied: "Jadon Sancho out? Based on his performance in training we didn't select him.
"You have to reach the level every day at Manchester United. That's why in this game he wasn't selected."
Sancho took to social media later on Sunday to publicly challenge Ten Hag's statement, calling it "untrue" and claiming he had "been a scapegoat for a long time".
He wrote: "Please don't believe everything you read! I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue, I have conducted myself in training very well this week.
"I believe there are other reasons for this matter that I won't go into, I've been a scapegoat for a long time which isn't fair! All I want to do is play football with a smile on my face and contribute to my team.
"I respect all decisions that are made by the coaching staff, I play with fantastic players and [am] grateful to do so which I know every week is a challenge. I will continue to fight for this badge no matter what!"
Sancho has scored nine goals and provided six assists in 58 Premier League appearances since joining United from Dortmund for a transfer fee of £73 million in July 2021.
