Jesse Marsch Tipped For Swift Return To Premier League With Southampton
Jesse Marsch could be set for a swift return to Premier League management after emerging as a frontrunner for the vacant Southampton job.
Marsch was fired by Leeds United on February 6 after just under 12 months at Elland Road.
Southampton then dismissed manager Nathan Jones six days later.
On Sunday evening, multiple UK bookmakers made Marsch the odds-on favorite to be appointed as the next Southampton manager.
Former Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard is also seen as a potential candidate.
Southampton and Leeds are direct rivals this season.
Both clubs are in real danger of suffering relegation from the Premier League.
Southampton sit bottom of the table with 15 points from 22 matches, after losing 2-1 at home to 10-man Wolves in the final game of the Jones era.
Leeds are four points better off in 17th place.
If Marsch does become the new Southampton manager then one of his first games could be against Leeds.
Leeds are scheduled to host Southampton at Elland Road on February 25.
