Jordan Pickford is used to receiving abuse when he plays against Newcastle United.

Although it is nearly five years since England's no.1 goalkeeper left Sunderland, he makes no secret of the fact that he still holds great affection for Newcastle's fierce rivals.

Soccer fans can be famously cruel, but also creative, even abstract when it comes to how and why they abuse an opposing player.

For example it is a running joke among some Newcastle supporters that Pickford has unusually short arms.

This has led to him being compared to a tyrannosaurus rex.

And that brings us to Tuesday night, when one Newcastle fan decided to attend his team's Premier League game against Everton dressed in a dinosaur suit.

The T-Rex was positioned behind Pickford's goal in the first half and the pair went face to face at one point... albeit from a safe distance.

Remarkably, there was more than one dinosaur at St James' Park on Tuesday as another fan was seen holding an inflatable green T-Rex.

As well as mocking Pickford with visual props, thousands of Newcastle fans were heard singing: "He cannot touch the crossbar, 'cause he's only got little arms."

On the pitch, Newcastle beat Everton 3-1.
