Japan Legend Kazuyoshi Miura Signs For Portuguese Club Oliveirense Aged 55
Kazuyoshi Miura joined Portuguese second division club Oliveirense on loan from J-League side Yokohama FC this week.
Miura, 55, is less than a month away from his 56th birthday and he has previously said that he intends to continue playing until he is 60.
The striker scored 55 goals in 89 games for Japan but he has not played for the national team since 2000.
Speaking after arriving in Portugal, Miura said: "Even though this is a new place for me, I'll work hard to show everyone the kind of play I'm known for."
Portugal will be the sixth country Miura has played club soccer in.
He started his career in Brazil with Santos in 1986.
Miura has also played in Italy with Genoa, in Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb and in Australia with Sydney FC, as well as for various clubs in Japan.
He has been contracted to Yokohama since 2005 but spent last season on loan at Suzuka Point Getters, where he scored two goals in 18 games in the Japanese fourth tier.
Yokohama acquired a majority stake in Oliveirense last year.
