Kevin De Bruyne Suffers Another Champions League Final Injury
Kevin De Bruyne left the field after just 36 minutes of Saturday's Champions League final.
The Manchester City playmaker damaged his right hamstring around the half-hour mark.
He attempted to play on but signaled to the bench moments later that he was not fit to do so.
De Bruyne looked heartbroken as he walked off and was replaced by substitute Phil Foden.
The Belgian midfielder departed the game while the score was still 0-0.
De Bruyne had also been forced off the field early the last time he featured in a Champions League final for City.
He suffered a fractured nose and eye socket after a collision with Antonio Rudiger during City's 1-0 defeat by Chelsea in 2021.
De Bruyne had to be taken straight to hospital on that occasion but he was able to watch the rest of this Saturday's final from the bench.
City went on to win 1-0 thanks to a 68th-minute strike from Rodri.
De Bruyne spoke to BT Sport after the game and said: "It has been a hard two months. I had a lot of problems with my hamstring and it snapped.
"The team was good enough though and we won. We have been working so long for this, it is amazing.
"We have not lost in the Champions League this year. It was not the best game but now is the time to celebrate."
