Kylian Mbappe Wins Ligue 1 Golden Boot For Fifth Season Running
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe ended the season top of the scoring charts in France's Ligue 1 for the fifth year in a row.
A converted penalty kick 21 minutes into Saturday's 3-2 defeat at home to Clermont took Mbappe's tally for the 2022/23 season to 29 goals in 34 games.
Golden Boot rival Alexandre Lacazette ended the campaign with 27 goals in 35 matches after failing to score in Lyon's final fixture.
Mbappe's haul of 29 league goals is his best since he scored 33 in 2018/19 when he received his first Ligue 1 Golden Boot.
He shared the award with Wissam Ben Yedder a year later after netting 18 goals in a 2019/20 campaign that was cut short by the COVID pandemic.
Mbappe then netted 27 Ligue 1 goals in 2020/21, before producing 28 in 2021/22.
In April, Mbappe became PSG's outright leading scorer in the history of Ligue 1.
He is currently joint-13th on the all-time list of leading scorers in Ligue 1, having scored 164 goals for Monaco and PSG.
Delio Onnis is the current record holder after netting 299 times for Reims, Monaco, Tours and Toulon in the 1970s and 1980s.
