Lionel Messi has been pleasantly surprised by how easily he and his family have been able to adjust to life in Florida.

Messi moved to Inter Miami from Paris Saint-Germain in July and has made an instant impact on the pitch.

The 36-year-old has scored nine goals in his first six games to lead Miami to the final of the Leagues Cup.

Messi had previously made it clear that his move to Miami was about more than soccer.

He had spoken of wanting "more calm" when he announced his decision to choose Miami earlier this summer.

Discussing his first weeks in Miami, Messi said at a press conference on Thursday: "People in this city and this club have made it easy for us.

"The fans, the people that I meet every day on the streets in the city where we are now... it's a spectacular city, and that's why I can live with happiness.

"We are in that adaptation period, the kids are going to school soon, and that will help to get to the end of that adjustment, and get used to daily life.

"It's only a small period to complete the adaptation, but it's been much easier than we thought."

Messi has only made two transfers during his entire senior career.

His first came in 2021 when he left Barcelona after more than two decades at the club to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi said on Thursday that his transition from Paris to Miami has gone much more smoothly than when he swapped Barcelona for PSG.

"The move from Barcelona to Paris was somewhat complicated but this has been easy," he added.
