Lionel Messi returned to training with his Paris Saint-Germain teammates on Monday morning.

PSG's official Twitter account posted a photo of Messi at the club's Ooredoo Training Center.

The photo was captioned: "Leo Messi back in training this Monday morning."

PSG had initially hit Messi with a two-week suspension after the player missed training last Monday to fly to Saudi Arabia.

But that suspension has since been lifted by PSG after Messi, who is an official ambassador for the Saudi tourism board, apologized for his unauthorized absence.

Messi posted a video on his Instagram Story on Friday. Speaking in Spanish, he said: "First of all, I apologize to my teammates, to the club."

He added: "Honestly, I thought we were going to have a day off after the game, as had been happening in previous weeks.

"I had this trip to Arabia organized and I couldn't cancel it. I had already canceled it before.

"I repeat again and apologize for what I did. Here I am, waiting for what the club decides."

Messi could now feature in PSG's next game, at home against Ajaccio on Saturday.

But it is still widely expected that Messi will leave Paris when his current contract expires in June.
