Luka Modric Named In Croatia's World Cup Squad Along With Three EPL Players

Real Madrid legend Luka Modric is set to feature in his fourth World Cup after being named in Croatia's 26-man squad for Qatar 2022.

Modric, 37, is the oldest player in the squad, which was published on Wednesday, exactly two weeks before Croatia's first game in Group F.

The former Tottenham midfielder will captain Croatia in Qatar, just as he did at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where he won the Golden Ball award after leading his side to the final.

Modric also represented Croatia at the World Cups in 2006 and 2014.

Three members of Croatia's 2022 World Cup squad are currently under contract with clubs in England's Premier League.

They are versatile Tottenham star Ivan Perisic, Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic and West Ham's Nikola Vlasic, who is out on loan at Torino this season.

Croatia are one of the few national teams that have scheduled an official warm-up match before Qatar 2022.

Modric and Co will face Saudi Arabia in a friendly on November 16.

Croatia then play Morocco in their World Cup opener on November 23, before meeting Canada on November 27 and Belgium on December 1.

Croatia named their squad of 26 players for the 2022 FIFA World Cup on November 9.
