Manchester United Beat Brighton In Penalty Shootout To Join Man City In FA Cup Final
Manchester United won their first penalty shootout since 2019 to get the better of Brighton & Hove Albion in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final.
The Red Devils had lost seven of their previous eight shootouts but beat Brighton 7-6 at Wembley following a 0-0 draw.
Both teams recorded 15 shots each during 120 minutes of end-to-end play but goalkeepers David de Gea and Robert Sanchez refused to be beaten.
De Gea made six saves across normal time and extra time, but he was not required to stop any penalties in the shootout.
United scored all seven of their penalties, while Brighton midfielder Solly March missed the target with the 13th spot-kick of the contest.
Victor Lindelof scored United's winning kick, after Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst had also found the net.
Alexis Mac Allister, Pascal Gross, Deniz Undav, Pervis Estupinan, Lewis Dunk and Adam Webster had all scored for Brighton before March's miss.
United will now meet Manchester City in this season's FA Cup final on June 3. It will be the first ever Manchester derby in an FA Cup final.
