Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo Promoted to Senior England Squad

Manchester United teenager Kobbie Mainoo has been called up to the senior England squad ahead of this month's friendly games against Brazil and Belgium.

The 18-year-old midfielder was initially named in England's U21 squad last week.

But Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has since decided to promote Mainoo, who could now make his senior international debut at Wembley on Saturday.

No players have dropped out of Southgate's original squad to make space for Mainoo.

Instead, Southgate has expanded his squad size from 25 to 26.

Mainoo made his United debut in January last year and he has played in 23 first-team games for the club to date.

He has been a key player for the Red Devils in 2024, starting 11 of 12 matches this year.

Mainoo was born in Stockport and has represented England at U17, U18 and U19 level.

However, he is also currently eligible to play for Ghana.
