Manchester City became Premier League champions for the seventh time on Saturday after title rivals Arsenal lost 1-0 at Nottingham Forest.

Taiwo Awoniyi scored Forest's winning goal 19 minutes into the game at the City Ground.

The result was enough to guarantee that Forest will not be relegated this season.

It also left Arsenal four points behind leaders City. The Gunners have just one game left to play, while City have three matches remaining.

Arsenal had been eight points clear of City earlier in the season but Pep Guardiola's team have been magnificent down the home straight, winning each of their last 11 EPL games.

Conversely, the Gunners have stuttered during the title run-in.

Mikel Arteta's side have now failed to win six of their last eight matches, dropping 15 points in the process.

Saturday's defeat at Forest came six days after Arsenal had been humbled 3-0 at home by Brighton.

City will be presented with the Premier League trophy next Sunday after their final home game of the season against Chelsea.
