The USMNT keeper saved a spot-kick from Sam Bell in a shootout, which Forest eventually won 5-3 following a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes.

Turner had earlier been beaten by Jason Knight in the 14th minute, shortly after Divock Origi had put the home side in front.

However, Turner pulled off five saves from open play before the shootout, where Morgan Gibbs-White, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Neco Williams, Moussa Niakhate and Taiwo Awoniyi all netted for Forest.

Wednesday's win saw Forest progress to the FA Cup's round of 16 and set up a home clash against Manchester United on February 28.

Forest beat United 2-1 at the City Ground in the Premier League in December despite Turner costing his side a goal with a misplaced pass.
