Micky Van De Ven Takes No.37 Jersey At Tottenham After Completing Transfer From Wolfsburg
Micky van de Ven officially became a Tottenham Hotspur player on Tuesday.
Spurs announced Van de Ven's arrival in a 150-word club statement.
It revealed that the 22-year-old had signed a contract until June 2029 and that he will wear the no.37 jersey during his first season with Spurs.
The statement also described Van de Ven as an "athletic center-back".
That is perhaps an understatement. The Dutch U21 international, who is 193cm tall, was the fastest defender in Germany's Bundesliga last season, having clocked a top speed of 22.3 mph (35.97 km/h).
Wolfsburg are reportedly set to receive as much as €50 million for Van de Ven.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham will pay the Bundesliga club an initial fee of €40m plus a potential further €10m in add-ons.
Spurs have now signed two central defenders in the last week, having brought in 18-year-old Ashley Phillips from Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
