Ajax 0-3 Liverpool

Mohamed Salah scored one goal and assisted another as Liverpool bounced back from their shock defeat at Nottingham Forest by thrashing Ajax in Amsterdam.

Salah scored Liverpool's opener three minutes before half-time.

He later set up Harvey Elliott for Liverpool's third on 52 minutes, shortly after Darwin Nunez had scored his sixth club goal of the season.

Salah is now only the third player in Champions League history to be directly involved in at least 50 goals while playing for an English team.

He has scored 39 UCL goals for the Reds and assisted 12.

Ryan Giggs was involved in 69 UCL goals for Manchester United, while Thierry Henry scored or assisted 52 times in the competition for Arsenal.

Liverpool's win over Ajax was enough to guarantee them a place in the last 16 of this season's Champions League.

They have now progressed from the group stage in six consecutive years under manager Jurgen Klopp.

But Liverpool may have to settle for second place in Group A.

Liverpool must beat Napoli 3-0 or by a four-goal margin at Anfield next week in order to top the group ahead of the Italian side, who are the leading scorers in this season's tournament so far.
