Ange Postecoglou has made it clear that he wants Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Kane, 29, has just under 12 months remaining on his current contract and has been linked with a possible move to Bayern Munich in Germany.

Postecoglou attended his first press conference as Spurs boss on Monday.

It took place shortly after reports emerged claiming that Bayern had made a second bid for star striker Kane.

Spurs are expected to reject that offer, said to be worth in the region of €80 million.

Postecoglou told reporters at Tottenham's Hotspur Way training center: "Harry Kane is one of the premier strikers in the world and I want him involved here.

"I want to make this club successful and there's no doubt that's what he wants."

Postecoglou is set to hold talks with Kane but he added: "I doubt it's going to be defining in the way people think it will be. I just want to introduce myself to Harry, give him my vision for the football club and then go on the training pitch and make it happen."

When asked about possible player sales before the start of the 2023/24 season, Postecoglou replied: "It's not at the forefront of my mind right now.

"I'm just focusing on the direction I want the club to go right now. If I start thinking about that kind of detail right now then I'm going to miss the chance to establish some of the finer details.

"Like most clubs, we know there will be activity between now and the end of the window."

Spurs will start their Premier League campaign with an away match at Brentford on August 13.

Postecoglou's side will first travel to Australia, Thailand and Singapore for pre-season friendlies against West Ham, Leicester and Roma, before hosting Shakhtar Donetsk in their final warm-up game.
