Newcastle United Qualify For First Cup Final Since 1999

Newcastle United will compete in their first cup final since May 1999 on February 26.
The Magpies beat Southampton 2-1 at a sold-out St. James' Park on Tuesday night to complete a 3-1 aggregate win in their EFL Cup semi-final.
Sean Longstaff scored twice inside the opening 21 minutes of Tuesday's game.
Che Adams then pulled a goal back for the Saints just before the half-hour mark but Newcastle held on for victory.
Newcastle ended the game with 10 players after Bruno Guimaraes was sent off for a dangerous foul on Sam Edozie deep into the second half.

Newcastle's last cup final appearance was at the old Wembley Stadium, three years before its demolition.
A team including the likes of Alan Shearer and Rob Lee was beaten 2-0 by Manchester United on that occasion.
It is very likely that Man United will again be Newcastle's opponents in this season's EFL Cup final.
The Red Devils lead Nottingham Forest 3-0 going into Wednesday's semi-final second leg at Old Trafford.
Newcastle have not won a major trophy since 1976.
47 - Newcastle have qualified for their first major cup final since 1999 (FA Cup), and their first League Cup final since 1976. Indeed, this gap of 47 years between League Cup final appearances is the longest for any team in the competition’s history. Return. pic.twitter.com/B19F7TgMlO
