Neymar could be set for a significant spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury during Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 game against Lille on Sunday.

The match had started so well for Neymar.

He assisted Kylian Mbappe for the opening goal before scoring the second himself to put PSG 2-0 up inside 17 minutes.

But Neymar left the field in tears early in the second half after twisting his right ankle to an unnatural position.

The Brazilian playmaker was pictured in tears as he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher.

It is now doubtful that Neymar will be able to play against Bayern Munich in PSG's crunch Champions League clash on March 8.

PSG had been 2-1 up when Neymar left the field against Lille.

Less than 20 minutes later, PSG then fell 3-2 behind.

But late goals from Mbappe and Lionel Messi sealed a dramatic 4-3 win for the reigning champions.
