Neymar Wants "To Write New Sporting History" In Saudi Arabia After Signing For Al-Hilal
Neymar has completed his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
PSG will reportedly receive a transfer fee in the region of €90 million plus add-ons from the sale of Neymar, who has signed a two-year contract with an annual tax-free salary of €150m.
The 31-year-old Brazilian forward had been at PSG for six seasons since joining from Barcelona in 2017.
Neymar's €222m move from Barcelona to Paris made him the most expensive player in soccer history - a record that still stands.
He scored 118 goals in 173 games for PSG and won 13 trophies with the French club, including five Ligue 1 titles.
Neymar - who began his senior club career with Santos in Brazil - said after his move to Al-Hilal was announced: "I've achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places."
He added: "I want to write new sporting history, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players at the moment.
"I have heard a lot and learned that I am following a long list of Brazilian players who have played in Saudi Arabia over the years, so I believe it is the desired place."
Al-Hilal are the most successful team in Asia, having won 66 official trophies in their 65-year history.
But they finished third in last season's Saudi Pro League.
Neymar - who is the joint top scorer in the history of the Brazilian men's national team, tied with Pele on 77 goals - is Al-Hilal's fifth major signing of the summer.
His arrival follows deals to bring in Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Malcom.
Brazilian Malcom scored a hat-trick on Monday when Al-Hilal kicked off the new Saudi Pro League season with a 3-1 away win at Abha.
