Only nine players in soccer history have won the FIFA World Cup and the European Cup, now known as the UEFA Champions League, in the same season.

But a tenth man will join that elite list on June 10.

If Manchester City prevail in the Champions League final then Julian Alvarez will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller and Roberto Carlos.

But if Inter Milan are crowned champions of Europe it will be Lautaro Martinez instead.

Both Alvarez and Martinez helped Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar in December.

Alvarez netted four goals during the tournament.

Martinez did not score in Qatar but he featured in six of Argentina's seven matches.
