Richarlison Denied First Premier League Goal For Tottenham By Tight VAR Call
Richarlison thought he had scored his first Premier League goal for Tottenham early in Saturday's Premier League game against Nottingham Forest.
The Brazilian smashed a powerful shot past Forest keeper Keylor Navas in the third minute after latching onto a long pass from Oliver Skipp.
It felt like a big moment for Richarlison, who had spoken out about his frustration at his lack of playing time following Wednesday's Champions League exit at the hands of AC Milan.
He initially celebrated by putting his finger to his lips to shush his doubters.
But his celebrations were then put on hold as a VAR review was launched to check for a possible offside.
That review lasted almost three minutes before ruling that Richarlison's shoulder had been marginally offside when Skipp played the ball.
Richarlison may not have scored his first EPL goal for Spurs on Saturday but he played a key role in a 3-1 win over Forest.
After Harry Kane had headed in a Pedro Porro cross for Tottenham's opener, Richarlison won a penalty. Kane converted the spot-kick to score his 20th EPL goal of the season and put Spurs 2-0 up.
Richarlison then assisted Son Heung-min to make it 3-0 before Joe Worrall headed home a consolation goal for Forest.
The visitors had a big chance to score again in added time but Andre Ayew saw his penalty saved by Fraser Forster.
