Roberto Firmino Signs For Al-Ahli In Saudi Arabia After Ending Eight-Year Spell With Liverpool
Roberto Firmino has signed for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old striker, who has been capped 55 times by Brazil, joined the Jeddah club on Tuesday, four days after his final contract with Liverpool expired.
He has penned a deal with Al-Ahli until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Firmino scored 111 goals in 362 appearances over eight seasons for Liverpool and won seven trophies, including the 2019 UEFA Champions League.
He is the second former Champions League winner to sign for Al-Ahli this summer, after Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy completed a £16 million move from Chelsea last week.
Al-Ahli were promoted to the Saudi Pro League earlier this year after winning last season's Saudi First League.
The club was recently taken over by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which also now owns Al-Ittihad, Al Nassr and Al-Hilal.
In addition to Firmino and Mendy joining Al-Ahli, the likes of N'Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, Karim Benzema, Ruben Neves and Marcelo Brozovic have all signed for PIF-owned Saudi Pro League clubs this summer.
The 2023/24 Pro League season is due to begin on August 20. The league will now feature 18 teams - two more than last season.
